Security has been heightened in Mumbwa district, Central province, following yesterday’s riot, in which two businessmen were killed on suspicion of being behind ritual killings in the area.

Police and Military Officers have been deployed in the Central Business District –CBD-, in order to maintain public security.

And Mumbwa District Commissioner, NAMUKOLO HAYUMBU has cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, stating that those involved will be brought to book.

This is as reported by ZNBC staffer, Kasabula Muchimba.

Meanwhile, ZANIS reports that Government has called for calm in Mumbwa

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU says police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged ritual killings in Mumbwa district.

Speaking when he visited Mumbwa, Mr. MWIIMBU urged the residents not to take the law into their own hands but allow the police to do their work.

He expressed sadness with the burning of a government building belonging to the Veterinary department.
