Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS) Commissioner General, Fredrick Chilukutu has said that food security is state security for peace and tranquility and in line with the Presidential directive on economic recovery.
Mr. Chilukutu explained that it is President Hichilema’s directive as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence and Security wings that in peace time the Defence and Security wings engage in agriculture for food security.
“We want officers to be exposed internationally, to be able to attend to the desires of the country in agribusiness,” he said. We must grow this sector in peace time, our war is economic, hence, our attention to food security as the war now is economic.” Mr. Chilukutu said.
He was speaking upon his return from international agribusiness show and exhibition,’ the Big Iron Farm Show’, held annually in the United States of America.

Mr. Chilukutu also noted strong links of learning institutions in agriculture research at the Big Iron Farm show. An opportunity he says ZCS will tap into for its agricultural exploits from Institutions such as the State University of North Dakota.
Other opportunities seized at the Big Iron Farm Show include engagements for creation of fund facilities for economically affordable high-power and heavy duty equipment within Zambia.
For the 3rd time now ZCS attended the Farm Show from 12 – 14 September 2023. The first and second being in 2013 and 2014 respectively. This time around, ZCS brought on board the Zambia National Service (ZNS) led by the Commander, Lieutenant General Malitii Solochi.
Since its inception in 1980, the Show brings together more than 900 exhibitors, trainers, demonstrators and countless opportunities in Agribusiness and is the largest farm show in the upper Midwest at the Red River Vally Fairgrounds in West Fargo, North Dakota-USA.
This among other strides speak to ZCS’s acquisition of the Horticulture Mwomboshi farm, the 10,000 hectares Nansanga Co-Venture farm with virgin land and the restoking of cattle at Chishinga in Kawambwa.
ZCS has since advanced in acquisition of the 8000 hectares Zambeef Chiawa farm and the Ministry of Agriculture Kawambwa Green 2000 farm for increased maize production to feed the 200 metric tons ZCS Petauke Milling plant once operational.
