Anti-Human trafficking department

Human trafficking remains one of the most pressing human rights violations in the world, and Zambia has taken a proactive stance in combating this crime. The Anti-Human Trafficking Services of Zambia is dedicated to addressing trafficking in persons through a comprehensive and coordinated approach. By working with multiple stakeholders, the organization ensures effective prevention, enforcement, victim support, and policy development.

These services encompass a wide range of strategic interventions, including coordination and stakeholder engagement, law enforcement efforts, public awareness campaigns, and victim rehabilitation. Additionally, they focus on data collection, policy advisory, and international collaboration to strengthen Zambia’s response to trafficking. Through these measures, the organization aims to protect vulnerable individuals, hold perpetrators accountable, and eliminate human trafficking from society.

The following sections provide an overview of the key services offered by the Anti-Human Trafficking Services of Zambia.

  • Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement Services
    • Coordinate activities of all relevant institutions to address trafficking in persons effectively.
  • Prevention and Eradication Services
    • Develop and implement measures to prevent and eliminate trafficking in persons.
  • Law Enforcement Services
    • Investigate, arrest, and prosecute cases related to trafficking in persons.
  • Public Awareness and Education Services
    • Conduct sensitization campaigns and educational programs to inform the public about the dangers of trafficking in persons.
  • Data Collection and Information Sharing Services
    • Collect, analyze, and share information related to trafficking in persons to support prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation efforts.
  • Policy Advisory Services
    • Advise the Minister on policy matters connected to trafficking in persons to guide national strategies and actions.
  • Victim Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services
    • Collaborate with government agencies and NGOs to rehabilitate and reintegrate victims of trafficking into society.
  • Victim Status Certification Services
    • Develop and implement guidelines to determine and certify the status of trafficking victims for legal and rehabilitation purposes.
  • Fund Management Guidelines
    • Prepare and manage guidelines for the disbursement of funds related to anti-trafficking programs and victim support.
  • Collaboration and International Cooperation Services
  • Work with state institutions, government departments, and international organizations to address trafficking at local and global levels.
